Hi,
I don't know about you, but cows just make me happy! I love their expressive faces and sometimes quirky looks.
As a matter of fact, the only thing that I like more that seeing cows is painting them!
If this sounds a lot like you, then you won't want to miss this workshop!
You'll have loads of fun learning everything that I've found to be helpful in capturing that unique essence of cows.
Specifically, we'll be covering:
- What you hope to get from this workshop.
- How to set up for success.
- Finding the right reference.
- Determining your composition.
- Drawing and blocking in your composition.
- Choosing your color.
- Mixing the shadow and light areas so that they pop.
- Refining the painting.
- Putting on the finishing touches.
- What comes next for you after the workshop is over.
- And you'll receive a copy of my Step-by-Step Guide to Painting Cows to take home with you.
Here's a list of the supplies that you'll need:
- An easel.
- The following color paints in a medium of your choice:
- Ultramarine Blue.
- Alizarin Crimson.
- Cad Red Light.
- Cad Lemon Yellow.
- Titanium White.
- Ultramarine Blue.
- Panels or canvases between 6"x6" and 9"x12" in size.
If you really want to learn to paint captivating cows and get better at it, then I HIGHLY SUGGEST that you bring several smaller panels and/or canvases and that you plan on painting at least 2-3 pieces.
If you're really interested in painting one larger piece, then feel free to bring a larger panel or canvas.
You know best, and whichever option you choose you'll be sure to learn a lot and have a great time too! - Brushes - large, medium and small, one of each.
I use numbers #2, #4 or #6 and #8 for paintings up to 8" x 10". I suggest larger size brushes for larger paintings. - Gamsol or something similar.
- Paper towels.
- Reference photos are optional, as I have some to share with you.
I mostly work in oil, so these are my oil supplies.
You are welcome to work in your favorite medium, so feel free to bring supplies that work best for you.
Here are a couple of other things about this fun workshop that you need to know:
- Lunch will be provided.
- Space is limited to ten participants.
- We will meet from 9 am to 12 pm and again from 1 pm to 4 pm.
- We will meet at my place, which is in a beautiful setting.
If you'd like to take a look, you can find it on AirBnB. It's called The Painter's Cottage. - If you're coming from out of town and need accommodations, please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to help you with that..
