But, so far, my favorite painting this summer was done from the back deck of our house, one hot Saturday afternoon.
I love this little 8" by 10" plein air piece! It is far from perfect, but I LOVE the movement it has! It just feels like summer to me.
Clouds moving across the sky while their shadows move across the hills. A breeze seems to be blowing, but a nice breeze, not a wind. The grass seems to be swaying, but the trees are still.
It's a lazy summer (actually late spring) afternoon. Perfect for soaking up the sun and daydreaming about more nice days to come.
It makes me want to be there and, of course, I am there, because it's right out my door. Now every time I go out on the deck, I see this sometimes boring scene in a different way.
I plan to do more plein air painting this summer. It's possible I'll stick closer to home like I did for this one.
