Hi Subscriber, How's the weather at your place? We've had some normal days for April of wind, snow, and rain. I'm thankful for the little moisture we've gotten. We've also had some amazingly gorgeous days with warm temperatures, sunshine and no wind. Any day without wind is a good day in my book. Last week we had a couple days of that gorgeous weather and I was able to get out for some painting. I'm still just going to the park a few miles away, until things really start greening up.
My friend, Becky joined me. I thought about painting the little pond you've seen before, but this tree caught Becky's attention and I agreed with her, it seemed much more interesting. |
Above you see just the beginning. I like to get the main idea in place first and then work in the surroundings, before coming back to finish.
Standing there in the warm sun with hardly a breeze was so nice and peaceful, until it wasn't peaceful anymore. Suddenly a couple pairs of geese were on the pond, squawking and flapping and chasing each other off. Water was flying everywhere!
They seemed to be fighting over the pond, or maybe over the tiny island in the middle of the pond. It might be a good place for a nest. They were very loud and rowdy! They finally settled down and it was back to the peacefulness of the afternoon until the wind came up. That's when it was time to be done. |
Old Cottonwood 8" by 10" unframed 14" by 16" framed oil on linen panel Here's the finished painting of this gnarly old Cottonwood tree. In a month or so it will be clothed in fine greenery, but for now it's pretty much still bare bones. I love the bare bones! Talk to you soon, |
Ginny P.S. Thank you to those who chimed in on the mentoring question. I'm getting the details worked out. It was almost unanimous for the monthly ongoing option, so stay tuned for more info coming! I'm hoping to have it in place in a few weeks. |
