Hi Subscriber, I hope you're having a fantastic day! The opening for Captivated by the Landscape was the most relaxing opening I've ever been to. After weeks of preparation and a two and half hour drive, I felt surrounded by warmth and appreciation.
Seeing people I hadn't seen in a long time as well as meeting new friends was absolutely wonderful! I felt the welcome of everyone and the love of art filled the space.
Soft music by the Prairie Fiddlers in the background set a peaceful tone, which really added to the whole evening. So enjoyable! For those of you who weren't able to make it, I have a few photos and a super short video for you. I'm really not very good at getting photos of shows! |
The West Nebraska Arts Center is a beautiful building and the paintings were hung by seasons for the most part. It made for a cohesive and beautiful display. Below is a very short video of just one little part of the show. It starts with a couple of Karen's pastel paintings and then shows some of mine. |
It's fun to see our work intermingled together. The staff did a fantastic job of curating the exhibit! The Arts Center is a beautiful place and well worth a visit! |
Now that it's over, I'm breathing a big sigh of relief and celebrating summer! A couple of days to catch up and relax before I start doing more plein air. Of course, now that I think of it, there are other things coming up. The American Impressionist Society Show and the Oil Painters of America Western Regional submission deadlines are both coming up soon.
Hmmm . . . guess I'd better get busy! Talk to you soon, |
Ginny
P.S. Here's a lovely quote from Winston Churchill. It pretty much sums up how I feel about painting. Maybe you do too. "Painting is a companion with whom one may hope to walk a great part of life's journey, 'Age cannot wither her nor custom stale her infinite variety.'"
