Hi Subscriber,
I hope you're well and enjoying the month.
I have worked in gouache all week again. You may remember I thought I'd work mostly in oil and a little gouache. Well, it has turned out to be the opposite!
I've learned a lot more about working with gouache and that's a good thing. I've decided to stick with it through the end of the challenge.
And I still plan to do some with cattle in them. I'm not sure I've ever done cattle in gouache.
Here's the reference photo for the Boxelder Road studies, and some line drawings for it.
This is my reference for the Boxelder Creek studies. I was really hesitant to try this one. I love the photo and the spot, but all that brush intimidated me. How would I be able to depict it and keep each bunch separate from the others? I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.
Here are the reference and value sketches for the last two studies. I've really been having fun with these studies. I'm gaining confidence using gouache.
I can think of more changes I could make to each one of these studies, which is exciting to me. I may do some more exploring beyond the challenge. I hope to turn some of them into larger oil paintings.
I hope you're enjoying this as much as I am! Stay tuned for the final week of studies.
Take care, Ginny |
