Hi Subscriber, I hope you're having a fantastic day! It's getting close to the deadline for submissions to the Mountain Oyster show. I've been working on a couple and wanted to show you the most done one, along with a small study for a possible larger one. They're both works-in-progress at this point. They'll have to sit around for a few weeks to see if they need more work. |
This 16" by 20" oil is the first one I've been working on. I think it's done, or very close. It may go through a few tiny tweaks in the next few weeks before submission time. What do you think would be a good title? I have two possibilities in mind, but I'd love to hear your ideas. |
Here's a little 8" by 10" study in oil. I think I'll make a larger one, probably 16" by 20". This one could use some title ideas also! I've been rethinking some things lately and these are a beginning result of that. I'm trying to pay more attention to how a painting feels to me, rather than sticking to the literal reference.
In both of these I used multiple references and some imagination to get the feel I wanted. It's a different approach, but essentially the thing I've always been after.
It's a little crazy to me that it can take so long to have "ah ha" moments! It seems like many of the principles I've learned, or tried to learn, over the years are coming together like pieces of a puzzle. It's exciting to me, and I hope it is to you too! Until next time, I hope you have a great week! |
Ginny P.S. What do you think? Have you any title ideas? I'd love to hear them! |
